Sound Off

If you talk to me regularly, you've heard me mention Mars ILL. A li'l duo from the ATL that makes some good down-to-earth hip hop. You wouldn't have heard them on the radio unless you get Atlanta station 88.5 WRAS. (How many good artists get airplay on hip hop radio anyway? Seven, maybe?) You've probably heard their funky beats playing on MTV and didn't know it was them. These guys get mad respect from peers and much love from me. Check'em out. www.marsill.com

Onto the point of this post: ProPain has been delayed. What's that?

Yeah, that new album that was supposed to come out next week. The one I've been telling you about for half a year now. While clearing ProPain songs for use on MTV, distributor EMI discovered that there was an obscure '60s sample that still needed to be cleared. From there, it snowballed into lawyers saying, "We need to cross-check every sample used on the album." A producer's worst nightmare, needless to say. This little gaffe has now turned Mars ILL into the black sheep of label Gotee Records and pushed the album back to mid-February at the earliest. A fan's worst nightmare, needless to say.

In the meantime, Gotee's released an MP3 to pacify us during the delay. Give it a listen, you won't be disappointed:
