Film Quick Review: Shrek 2

This sequel to 2001's smash success Shrek is certainly a worthy successor to the first movie, but its many jokes probably reside too far into pop-culture territory to remain relevant in just a few short years. As it is, the movie remains a playful hodgepodge of saucy but not so subtle jabs at a long list of targets too varied to list. While it's certainly fun to witness, the aftertaste does reveal a conscious effort to make everything bigger and better, and the movie loses some of the original's charm in the process.
Score: 7.0

side review: overall i enjoyed the movie, but i was actually bored for the first half of the movie. it's been a while since i saw it, so i don't remember what exactly made the 2nd half better. anyways, as sequels are known to be crap compared to their predecssors, this one was actually a pretty damn good one, though it still falls a bit below the first.
