Forever Cursed?

Ouch. This was supposed to the the Red Sox's year. Then again, they say that pretty often, don't they? ...Something always happens. The Babe always manages to
throw his ghostly cog into the gears... This time, Curt Schilling, the ace pitcher that the team acquired for the very purpose of bringing down the hated Yankees in the ALCS, has now been brought down himself. By a bruised ankle, of all things. Scheduled to pitch Game 1 of this dream matchup, Schilling had to leave the game in the fourth inning after a poor outing and may not return for the rest of the series.

The Yankees made good on the sudden opportunity, jumping to an 8-0 lead. The Sox made it a game in the seventh with a surge of 5 runs followed by 2 more in the eighth, but you knew that it was over. You just knew. The Yankees capped another 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth and dashed any hopes that the Sox faithful had. The game seemed to exemplify everything about the franchise. They come in looking strong with hopes high, get knocked by a freak accident or singular play, trudge on but ultimately come out losers. That's how it is. Maybe that's how it'll always be. I'm telling ya, the Curse of the Bambino refuses to loosen its grip on this dugout.
