Film Quick Review: Returner (Ritaana)

This Japanese action flick clearly takes its influences from American sci-fi, ranging from Terminator to Independence Day and even to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. While the action sequences are decent, the movie just seems to be trying too hard to be cool and imitative of what it interprets as the American style of that quality by tacking on as many familiar trappings as possible. Unfortunately, that is never a true formula for success and this movie proves no different.
